Nifty 50
Over 50s can take advantage of a new programme to help them get fitter at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre.
The Active sports Club takes place between 10.00am and 12.00pm on Wednesdays at the Centre, in Garons Park.
Sessions cost £2.90 and include badminton, short-tennis and table tennis for further details or to book, call 01702 613000.
Friday is coffee morning with activities from 9 - 11am £5.85.
GET FIT FOR LIFE
From January anyone over 55 can take part in a five-week healthy lifestyle and exercise programme at Southend Library.
Each weekly session costs just £1 and runs from 10 - 11am in the ground floor library meeting room. Refreshments, free library vouchers and an infomation pack are also provided. To book you place, call The Blues Fit for Life Teams on 01702 341352
Forever Fit at Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre
Following the recently successful Fit for Life projects that Sports Development ran alongside Southend United FC, Chelmsford Borough Council is proud to have now taken on our own 5 week course titled Forever Fit!, again designed to encourage everyone over 50 to gradually become more physically active, in a friendly and relaxed instructor-led environment.
Similar to the previous course, each week, the hour long class will include a little information about how and why it is important to stay fit and healthy in later life, followed by a group activity. Participants will have the opportunity to try;
Week 1 - Exercise to Music
Week 2 - Fitness Walking
Week 3 - Stretching
Week 4 - Toning
Week 5 - Core Stability
NEW course!
A second course has now been added!! This will take place in the sports hall at Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre, Salerno Way and starts on Tuesday 2nd November 2010 from 11am - 12pm. Sarah will again the instructor for this class.
The cost to attend either of these classes is £3.00 per week, per person paid weekly at reception.
