Donations,

Legacies &

Bequests

Age Concern Southend receives no funding from Age Concern England, we are affiliated to them but are entirely autonomous.   Much of our work to improve the lives of older people in Southend could not continue without the very hard work of fundraising, donations and gifts.

Types of Donation

There are a number of different types of donation. You could send us a one-off payment, you could set up a monthly donation by standing order or you could make provision in your will for us to receive a bequest. See the next column for details. Whatever and however you choose to donate, you can rest assured that your funds will be used to enrich the lives of the elderly in Southend.

How to Donate

Gift Aid   Use Gift Aid and make your donation worth more.  For every pound you give us, we get an extra 25 pence from the Inland Revenue.   To qualify for Gift aid, what you pay in income tax or capital gains tax must be at least equal to the amount we will claim in the tax year.   Ask us for a Gift Aid form when you send your donation. By Cheque or Postal Order You can make a donation by sending us a cheque or postal order made payable to AGE Concern Southend on Sea CIO, 134 Hamlet Court Road, Westliff On Sea, Essex SS0 7LN. Make a Regular Gift by Standing Order Even a small amount, when given regularly, can help us plan better, do more and reach even more older people.  Contact us on 01702 345373 for more details. Donations in Wills and Legacies   These types of donation are vital towards our funding.  With them we are able to offer a much needed service to the older people of the borough. It will ensure we are able to keep our vital services running.   Once you have provided for your family and friends, any legacy you can leave, whether large or small, will be put towards the running costs of ACSOS together with improving the quality of life for the elderly.   For a gift of a specific sum, you will need the correct wording for inclusion in your will.     "I give the sum of £_____  to AGE Concern Southend on Sea CIO charity number: 1160916  of 134 Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff On Sea, Essex SS0 7LN, for its general charitable purposes.  I further declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other Trustee shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy."   You may like to leave ACSOS the residue of your estate (residuary bequest)…   "I give the residue of my estate to Age Concern Southend on Sea CIO charity number: 1160916 ….  followed by the wording above.
