Talk to Someone

We’d love to talk to you

First and easiest of all, you can phone us on 01702 345373. We’ll do our best to help you quickly and efficiently. If you’d like to come in and talk to someone face to face, you can call us on the number above and we’ll arrange a convenient time for you to visit us. Directions to our office are on the Contact page. If that’s not possible, we can get someone to visit you. Just phone us and we’ll arrange for one of our staff or volunteers to meet with you. If you’d like to talk to someone on a regular basis, to discuss the issues you have or even just for a chat, we have a ‘befriending’ service.
“I wanted to talk to someone. But who? It’s moments like this, when you need someone the most, that your world seems smallest.” Rachel Cohn, Dash & Lily's Book of Dares

Do You Need a Friend?

Loneliness is a massive issue for people in later life in the UK. Half of all people aged 75 and over live alone, and 1 in 10 people aged 65 or over say they are always or often feel lonely – that’s just over a million people. According to a recent study of three million people, LONELINESS is as big a killer as obesity and as dangerous to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Are You Alone or Know Someone Who Is?

We offer a friendship/befriending service.  This service seeks to provide comfort, friendship and practical help to residents in the borough of Southend-on-Sea who feel lonely or isolated. If you know of someone who might benefit from this service we’d love to talk to you (and them!!!). We’ll try to help with any problems, listen to what they have to say or just have a good old-fashioned chin-wag. If it helps, our volunteers will try to develop a longer-term relationship. We operate best when we can get to know someone and provide help just as you would to a friend, not a ‘client’. Call 01702 345373 for more details.
