Age Concern Southend are a small, independent charity with no affiliation to any national charities such as Age UK. Our charity began in 1974 as Southend Older People’s Welfare and have been helping older people in our community ever since.
We currently provide general advice and support, community transport, wheelchair hire, befriending, community clubs, hearing aid replacement and social and fitness activities.
In February of 2018 we merged with Club 50+, a community club providing arts, sports and social activities to the over 50’s in Southend which is now located in our brand new community hub, The Haven. The Haven will also offer a variety of services for older people including podiatry, day care and stop smoking support from December 2019.
Age Concern Southend currently provide around 4700 lifts per year, befriend around 300 people, have around 300 older people regularly attending our community clubs and on an average day we receive around 50 calls from older people looking for a little help and support. We are always happy to help with all aspects of growing older, no matter the size of the problem.
With your support we will make Southend a better place to age.
