Christmas Dinner for 60 at The Haven Community Hub

On Christmas day we invited 60 older people to join us for a free Christmas dinner at our new community hub, The Haven. Every year we invite older people to come along who would otherwise have been on their own on Christmas Day. This year we had record breaking numbers get in touch.

The was our third annual Christmas Day dinner and food, gifts and decorations for the day were kindly donated by our local community, shops and businesses. This was especially exciting for us this year as it was the first one held at our own premises on Hamlet Court Road!

Guests were welcomed with a glass of (non-alcoholic) bubbly before sitting down to a two course turkey dinner. Food was donated by Waitrose and Bawnbua Foods as well as other local groups and businesses.  All of the cooking was done by the team from Treat Street Cafe and a selection of dedicated, spud peeling volunteers!

We are thrilled to see that our annual Christmas day dinner is welcoming more and more people every year. No-one should spend Christmas alone and it is absolutely wonderful that our community support us in making this event happen. A huge thank you to all our donors and volunteers who made such a wonderful day possible!
