CORVID 19 – Update

As I’m sure you are aware,  the team at Age Concern Southend are working tirelessly to try and support older people in our community in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. However, due to government restrictions we are now operating a reduced service for the health and wellbeing of both our community and our staff.

The Haven Community Hub (including our day care facility) and the office will remain closed to the public until further notice but the office will be staffed from 10am-2pm in order to take phone calls and offer support.

All befriending is now telephone only to minimise the risk of contact between befrienders and older people and we are taking on new referrals for telephone befriending to try reduce isolation and loneliness over the coming months.

The team are also co-ordinating care packages for anyone over the age of 60 in desperate need. These rely on the kind donations from our community that can be donated at the office between 10am and 2pm (but please use the buzzer and leave outside the door for us to collect) or at the Plough pub on London Road. If you know of anyone in urgent need please call the team on 01702 345373 and we will do our best to help. You can also get help by visiting the Southend Coronavirus Action group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SouthendCoronavirusAction.

All other services are now on hold until further advice from the government. For more information please call us on 01702 345373 or email us on enquiry@acsos.co.uk.

.

Thank you for your support in these difficult times.
