Meet Sarah – Dementia Day Centre Assistant Manager
Sarah Wilson, Assistant Manager of Days at the Haven – our Dementia Day Centre, tells us about her role at ‘Days at the Haven’…
How long have you worked at ACSOS and what do you like the most about your role?
I started work at ACSOS in June 2021. I had worked in the travel industry since I left school at 16 so it was quite a change for me but, I actually wish I had made the move a long time ago. I love my job and although I enjoy the admin side of things my favourite days are those spent with the clients in the day centre.
What’s the best thing you’ve got to do as part of your role?
I enjoy most of the activities but especially enjoy the singing, playing games and having a boogie. I also like the inter-generational sessions we have as I think it is great to see everyone enjoying themselves together and its great to raise awareness of Dementia.
Tell me something people don’t know about you?
There’s probably not much people don’t know as I am a bit of a chatter box but not many people know that I was in the pop video by Toni Basil, Hey Mickey.
When you aren’t working, what can we find you doing?
Out of work I love to socialise and I love going out to dinner and having a few drinks with my family and friends. I also enjoy pottering around in my garden, reading and cooking.
Where is your favourite place in Southend?
My favourite place in Southend is Chalkwell Park. I live nearby and have so many happy memories there of when I was a child and then also with my own little girl who is re-living my memories.
