Statement regarding Coronavirus

As many of you may be aware there have now been confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the Southend area. Coronavirus is a type of virus that is common across the world. This strain, covid-19, is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, China in January 2020. As a charity it is our responsibility to follow guidelines issued by Public Health to ensure your safety and health and, as such, we are currently implementing a series of precautions throughout our services, our offices and our community hub.

These include advising staff, volunteers and service users to regularly wash their hands as instructed by Public Health (you will find posters advising on the proper hand washing technique in all of our bathrooms) and to self-isolate and call 111 immediately if they have any of the symptoms associated with the virus. We will also be asking our caretakers to take extra measures to disinfect all surfaces and door handles on a frequent basis.

Symptoms of coronavirus include:

  • A cough
  • A high temperature
  • Shortness of breath

At this time, we have not been advised to close any of our services however we are regularly monitoring the Public Health website to ensure able to make informed decisions should the situation worsen.

Please do get in touch if you have any concerns going forward (you can call us on 01702 345373 or email us on enquiry@acsos.co.uk) or please visit the government website for more information.
